Introduction

Change can be hard and confusing. With guidance and support, you can find healing and growth in the uncertainty. Karlie’s hope is that her office is a safe place where her clients feel heard, understood, and comforted while they gain awareness, heal from their past, and create a life they love!

Karlie Butterworth is a Licensed Professional Counselor who earned both her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She has worked with a diverse group of clients in a variety of settings such as college campuses, non-profit organizations, military installations, and clinical group practices. In 2019, she moved from Louisiana to Texas where she began working as a Career Counselor for the SFL-TAP soldier transition program at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. After serving soldiers and their families at Fort Hood, Karlie began her work as a Licensed Counselor at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. While there, she counseled and mentored students to help them reach their personal and professional goals.

As a military spouse and first-generation college student, Karlie is passionate about helping individuals overcome adversity and reach their full potential. She believes that everyone has their own unique talents and gifts and loves working with clients to enable them to discover these gifts to facilitate hope and healing within their lives. Her clients can expect to leave her office feeling empowered, cared for, validated, and equipped to face life’s challenges.

Karlie utilizes CBT, TF-CBT, ACT, Mindfulness, Breathwork, Somatics, Person-Centered Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy, among other therapy modalities to provide her clients with ethical, evidence-based, individualized care. She believes in meeting a client where they are, and that therapy is a collaborative process where the client and therapist work together to figure out their unique path to healing and growth. She values being authentic and genuine and provides a judgment-free space for her clients to do the same. Karlie has experience working with clients struggling with OCD, ADHD, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, stress management, attachment issues, relationship conflicts, life transitions, existential/spiritual issues, women’s issues, and career challenges. She specializes in working with adolescents, young adults, and older adults enabling them to develop hope for the future, healing from their past, and joy in the present moment.

Karlie is a Louisiana native who enjoys traveling, trying new foods, and exploring nature. Going on adventures as a family, hiking, yoga, and being near the water are ways she recharges and finds balance within her life. She truly loves what she does and would be honored to connect with you to help you heal, grow, and thrive!
